Q: What can someone expect when attending the meeting for the first time? Newcomers or visitors are always welcomed by all regulars. We are like a family and always love company.
Q: What makes this meeting special to your group members? Most home group members made the Wednesday Night meeting when they first got clean and stayed.
Q: Can you share any stories or fun facts about the group? We have a close-knit group. I’ve been specifically moved by the love and compassion we have for each other. More specifically, there is a mom that comes to our meeting who lost her kid to “Dyfis.” She showed up every week. It was a trying time for her, and we were all praying and so happy when she finally got them back. We also have another home group member who went through the same thing a few years later and was comforted by the experience and suggestions of the first member’s journey.
We also have a young home group member who relapsed for about a year. When her father would talk to her, in the midst of full-blown addiction, she would ask her dad, “Did that lady get her kid back?” I was so blown away that even in the midst of the worst symptoms, she had the compassion and clarity to still remember her home group and ask about her kids. Fast-forward, everyone is clean today and are close friends.
